Pocatello Christian Outreach Center

Welcome to Pocatello Christian Outreach Center a church of new beginnings! We are a non-denominational church located in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area in Idaho.  We put an emphasis on the Word of God and take time each week to worship God freely.  We believe that Jesus offers each person unconditional love, acceptance and forgiveness. PCOC is a safe, friendly place where you can grow in your faith, build strong relationships, and learn to live the good life God has made available for you.

Use the links on this page to learn more about who we are and see if this might be a church that you can call home.

We invite you to join one of our services, or come to one of many events held throughout the week.

Vision & Mission

Pocatello Christian Outreach Center is a spirit filled family church dedicated to taking the gospel and love of Jesus Christ to people everywhere and fully equipping believers to live victoriously by faith in the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit.   OUR MISSION: The mission of PCOC is to passionately share the love of Jesus with people everywhere, to lead them to salvation and the fullness of the Holy Spirit, and to teach them to fervently live by faith and walk in love through the power of God’s Word.

Statement of Faith

  • We believe in one God. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, Creator of all things.
  • We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the first begotten Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified and died, was buried and resurrected, ascended into heaven, is now seated at the right hand of God the Father, and is both true God and true man.
  • We believe the Bible in its entirety to be the inspired Word of God and the infallible rule of faith and conduct.
  • We believe in the resurrection of the dead, the eternal happiness of the saved, and the eternal punishment of the lost.
  • We believe in personal salvation of believers through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
  • We believe in sanctification through the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit, and we believe in personal holiness, purity of heart, and life.
  • We believe in divine healing through faith in the Name of Jesus Christ, and we believe that healing is included in the Redemption.
  • We believe in water baptism, in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit as distinct from the New Birth, in speaking with tongues as the Spirit of God gives utterance (Acts 2:4), in the gifts of the Spirit, and in the evidence of the fruit of the Spirit. We believe that all of these are available to believers.
  • We believe in the Christian’s hope: the soon-coming, personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Doug & Theresa Smith

Hi there! Pastor Doug & I (Pastor Theresa) are so glad you’ve stopped in to check out our profile.  Let me share a little about us. We are parents to 2 super amazing kiddos (that are kinda weird to… we homeschool).  Our son Marcus is 16 years old, aspires to go into missions, & is our resident tech head. He assists by overseeing media, sound, & lights.  One of his greatest gifts is that he loves people (mostly chatting their ears off but love none the less). Our creatively crafty daughter Danica is 11 years old.  She has a great sense of style but that is second to her heart for worship. Danica helps in numerous arenas around the church including children’s ministry & greeting.   Our family moved here to Southeast Idaho in January 2017 as a sheer act of obedience to the Lord. As always, He does not fail to lead us into greater adventures with Him.  Doug, the kids, & I have been rooted & planted in Bastrop Christian Outreach Center since the spring of 2005 (well except Danica of course – she arrived later on the scene in 2007).  Our family fell in love with Jesus & have been wholeheartedly serving Him together ever since. By no means were we dissatisfied with our church home/family, but we felt the tug to get out of our comfy place.  With continued direction from the Lord & the guidance of our esteemed pastors, we felt like the Lord was calling us to Idaho. We answered & began to assist with a church plant in the Pocatello area that was being overseen by Doug’s cousin & her husband (they are pastors too… how fun….huh?!!!).  They have a newer (but well established) church in Rupert (if you don’t know where THAT is… no worries.. neither did we ….until Google maps informed us). We forged relationships, got familiar with the area (aka drove… A LOT), and continued to listen & learn. The new church began to grow & within a year circumstances presented themselves for Doug & I helped birth Pocatello Christian Outreach Center.

Lawrence Chapman

I was born, raised, and lived in a small town in central Texas most of my life, close to family and lifelong friends.  I never imagined ever living anywhere else, until late in 2017.  By the leading of the Holy Spirit, we moved to Idaho to help start what is now known as Pocatello Christian Outreach Center.

I have attended church faithfully since birth and even assisted in services in various ways as a young boy.  I rededicated and surrendered my life to Jesus as my Lord and Savior when I was 17 yrs. old.

I married my best friend and beautiful high school sweetheart in early 1996.  My wife and I are parents to a very handsome son that has been a joy and blessing to our lives.  We have worked in Children’s Ministry together since the late 90’s in various roles as Children’s Pastors, Directors, Royal Ranger leaders as well as foster parents.  I have served on a church board as a Deacon previously during a building project as well as Board of Director – Treasure currently.  I have enjoyed attending multiple mission trips to Mexico assisting with ministry as well as building projects.  I received an Associate Degree in Theology at In Christ International Bible College in 2011.

I love camping, fishing, hunting, and just about anything outdoors.

One of my personal scriptures is Proverbs 22:6 (KJV), “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”  I feel called to train up the children in our local community to know Jesus personally so they will not have to go through the struggles and difficulties of life.  I feel called to help children in the local church discover their personal gifts/talents and callings and help develop that to maturity so that they are a part, serve, and are a blessing to the church body and local community.

It is a great honor and blessing to serve our Lord and Savior as well as this church and community.
